Our Story
Our passion for this work grew from a shared love of nature and a deep respect for the living landscapes around us.
Coming from two different continents on opposite sides of the world, we have travelled widely and learned from diverse environments, cultures, and ways of working with the land. These experiences shaped our belief that caring for nature and creating beautiful spaces should go hand in hand.
We started this company to bring together our combined knowledge of ecology, horticulture, design, and permaculture, and to apply it in a way that is thoughtful, sustainable, and rooted in care.
Everything we do is driven by a desire to nurture biodiversity, protect natural systems, and create landscapes that are not only visually beautiful, but resilient, meaningful, and alive.
About
Reuben Cote
Reuben Cote – Reuben has dedicated his life to horticulture and the art of creating beautiful, ecologically rich landscapes. He trained at a prestigious college in Melbourne and began his career designing, creating, and maintaining public spaces for a local authority. In 1999, he moved to London to continue his passion, working with the Corporation of London on some of the city’s most iconic parks and gardens.

In 2004, Reuben launched his own landscaping and design business, working with a range of high-profile clients across the city. Later, he expanded his practice to Dorset, combining his expertise in garden design with ecological awareness.

Since moving to Exmoor National Park, Reuben has furthered his knowledge by training in ecology consultancy and becoming a qualified permaculture designer. This has deepened his ability to integrate habitat creation, biodiversity enhancement, and ecological best practice into every project. Today, he continues to grow his reputation as a designer and consultant, bringing a unique blend of creativity, ecological insight, and hands-on experience to his work.

Reuben’s approach combines practical solutions with imaginative, wildlife-friendly landscapes. Whether advising on habitat creation, designing private gardens, or cultivating plants in our market garden, he brings passion, skill, and a lifelong commitment to biodiversity to everything he does.
About
Manjula Cote
Manjula brings a holistic, deeply nature-centred approach to everything she does. A trained herbalist, ecological consultant and qualified permaculture designer, she is passionate about nurturing plants, people, and wildlife alike. Her love of the natural world extends beyond the garden: she is a nature therapist, wild walker, cold-water swimmer and yoga lover, drawing inspiration and balance from the rhythms of the seasons.

At the heart of her work is our market garden, where she cultivates a diverse range of herbs, perennials, and shrubs, combining her horticultural expertise with an eye for ecological value. She brings the same care and attention to her garden designs, creating spaces that are resilient, wildlife-friendly, and visually engaging.

Manjula’s philosophy is simple: every plant, habitat, and design choice can contribute to the wellbeing of people and the planet. By blending creativity, ecological knowledge, and holistic practice, she helps bring landscapes to life in ways that are ecologically vibrant, deeply nourishing, and inspiring for all who experience them.
